Wooda House
Description
Sunrise arrives straight through the Old Town waterfront, with tidal water, birds and fishing-village noise replacing the usual Koh Lanta road soundtrack. Wooda House is a restored wooden fisherman house with the delightful sensation of sleeping aboard a very stationary boat.
Two daybeds, hammocks and sea-facing lounging space turn idling into the whole point. Make tea, settle in, and watch the tide redraw the view below; this is not a base for a packed island itinerary. The timber work has been handled with care, keeping the house warm and lived-in.
Old Town’s restaurants sit close by, while the house remains tucked into a proper local neighbourhood. Families and couples wanting slow mornings will get more from it than late-night bar hunters. The village sounds carry across the water, because villages persist in having them.
There is no air conditioning, so the open-air coastal setting matters most after dark and early in the day. Book it for the hammock, the sunrise and that rare chance to spend several hours doing almost nothing in a house built for exactly that.
