Description
Squid fishing after dark, kayak trips for crabs, and seafood cooked on the island are the point of Malee Homestay on Koh Por. This is a proper small-island stay across from Lanta Old Town, reached by local boat and built around sea, food, and doing very little in a productive manner.
The bungalows and tents are simple, with fans and bathrooms. Electricity is limited, there is no air conditioning, and bucket-style washing may be part of the arrangement. The beach area is set up for long, slow evenings, while hornbills, bats, and eagles provide the background entertainment without charging for a ticket.
Meals lean heavily into fresh fish and seafood, often in generous spreads that suit a hungry group. Vegetarian food is available too. Fishing, snorkelling, kayaking, island rides, and squid fishing turn an overnight stay into more than a hammock-based negotiation with the afternoon.
Koh Por is for families, small groups, and anyone happy to trade polished comfort for an island household and a quiet shore. The boat crossing from Old Town is part of the deal; pack light, because nobody has invented a luxury luggage carousel for this bit of water.
