Tonmai Suites
Description
Suite A’s wraparound balcony catches sea, mountain and Old Town views in one turn of the head. The larger rooms have proper space to spread out, with big windows, comfortable beds, air conditioning, ceiling fans and fridges that can handle more than two bottles of water.
Tonmai sits a short walk from Lanta Old Town’s waterfront restaurants, far from the island’s resort strip and its permanently revving scooters. It is a quiet base for eating seafood on the old wooden pier, then retreating to jungle and hillside views. Beaches need a scooter; Old Town is not pretending otherwise.
Bird and Aun handle scooter hire, laundry, transport planning and island pointers without turning the lobby into a sales desk. The shared downstairs area has filtered water and fresh coffee, while the newer suites bring brighter furniture and fittings than the older room stock.
Choose a sea-view suite if balconies, sunrise and the occasional monkey in the trees improve your morning. Some rooms retain dated furniture and basic bathroom layouts, but the location and room size are unusually good for Old Town.
