Tamarind Lanta Resort
Description
The garden pool is the best reason to book Tamarind Lanta Resort: large, quiet and shared across the small complex, with enough space to recover from Long Beach sand and scooter dust. Long Beach sits a short walk down the lane, near Layana, while restaurants and shops are close enough to manage without wheels.
Rooms are spacious, clean and plainly Thai in style, with strong air-conditioning, a fridge, kettle and balcony seating in many rooms. Some interiors are dated and bathrooms are basic, so book it for space, location and value.
The little on-site restaurant handles inexpensive breakfast and lunch, then closes before the evening crowd gets serious. Laundry, sewing, ferry and day-trip arrangements, plus scooter rental, are all handled at reception, which is useful because Koh Lanta rewards independent wandering with beaches, roadside fruit and at least one wrong turn.
Upper-floor rooms involve a steep staircase, and parking is tight. Pick a balcony room facing the pool if an afternoon reading spot matters more than a feature wall pretending to be art.
