Relax House
Description
The back balconies over the mangroves are the reason to book Relax House. At high tide, the sea reaches beneath the stilted rooms; at low tide, it becomes a broad mudflat full of mangrove business. Bring coffee outside, use the hammock, and let Old Town’s traffic problem remain somebody else’s problem.
The newer pool villas have the strongest setup: modern rooms, proper beds, big bathrooms, private outdoor space, and an infinity pool with a waterfall. Several rooms also carry a microwave, electric pan, kitchenette space, and a fridge large enough for more than two bottles of Singha.
This is for slowing down near Lanta Old Town, not for daily beach swims. The shore here is tidal and not swimmable, while the west-coast beaches need a scooter ride. Old Town sits about a kilometre away, close enough for dinner and far enough to avoid its small parade of motorbikes and roosters.
The property stays quiet, green, and deliberately low-key. Expect mangroves, sea views, cats, occasional geckos, and some sound through adjoining bathrooms; nature did not sign a noise agreement.
