Description
Two large beds, a kitchenette corner and enough room to unpack properly put Peace Lanta Mansion ahead of the usual beach-area shoebox. The rooms are dated, but they are spacious, air-conditioned and fitted with hot showers and proper mattresses – a far more useful luxury than another polished concrete wall.
Klong Khong beach is a short walk away, with sunset bars along the sand and a useful run of restaurants, shops and 7-Eleven nearby. The mansion sits back from the beach strip, so nights stay quiet while dinner and a cold beer remain close enough to require no tactical planning.
One can sort scooters, boat trips, fishing outings, transfers and transport around the island. Barracuda fishing with him is the sort of day that improves rapidly after the first catch (fish remain stubbornly uninterested in your holiday plans).
This place suits longer stays and budget-minded travellers who want a large base near Klong Khong, not a boutique hotel built for photographing towels. The family-style dinners are a proper bonus, especially after a day on the water, and the beach bars are close enough for sunset without turning the room into an extension of them.
