Description
Rocking chairs on the porch, big bungalow rooms, and Klong Nin beach a short walk away – Lanta Wanida gets the parts of a long stay right. The rooms have antique-style wooden furniture, proper space to unpack, air-con, a fridge, kettle, hairdryer and safe. It feels more lived-in than a standard resort box.
The bungalows sit back from Horizon Road among greenery beside the Klong Nin stream. Nights stay quiet, despite cafes, restaurants, a 7-Eleven and a gym sitting close by. The mountains behind the property and the trees around it do most of the decorating, which is fortunate because plastic orchids have had a long enough career.
Pool access is at Infinity Resort next door, a few metres away, and it is large enough to be more than a decorative blue rectangle. May can sort motorbikes, island trips and onward transfers, which saves an afternoon of comparing WhatsApp messages while pretending that is holiday planning.
Families needing room for a child, couples after a quieter Klong Nin base, and longer-stay travellers will get more from Wanida than from a beachfront party hotel. Book a bungalow with a front porch; those rocking chairs are the best seat on the property once the road has gone dark.
