Lanta Sunny House
Description
The pool is the headline here: properly large, with bamboo shelters around the edge and enough room to spend an afternoon without staring at somebody else’s inflatable flamingo. Long Beach sits a short walk down the property’s own sandy path, and the quieter stretch lies across the small river by the beach bars.
Rooms range from simple bamboo bungalows with fan, mosquito net and open-ventilation bathrooms to newer deluxe doubles with air-conditioning, balconies and better-finished bathrooms. Book the newer rooms for a longer stay; the older twin bungalows are basic and dated, with the sort of rustic charm that requires a forgiving definition of rustic.
Big C is across the road, 7-Eleven is nearby, and Long Beach’s cafés, cheap street food and bars are all within walking distance. The on-site kitchen does a good lime shake, club sandwich and inexpensive breakfasts, so there is no need to mount an expedition before coffee.
Lanta Sunny House suits budget stays that want a pool and beach access without being marooned at the end of a dirt track. Families fit neatly into the poolside bungalows, while longer-stay travellers get useful storage, daily water and a calm base close to the action.
