Description
Two swimming pools and a line of standalone bungalows climbing a green hill give Lanta Manda more breathing room than the usual row of hotel rooms. The upper pool is the better hangout, with hammocks, loungers and a covered games area.
The bungalows are big, simple and dated, built as little private units. Many have air-con, a fridge, a safe and balconies; the garden-view bungalows high on the slope are the quietest part of the property.
That hill is not decorative. The internal road has a proper incline, and the upper rooms involve a sustained walk uphill in Koh Lanta heat, which has never been famous for mercy.
Lanta Manda suits budget stays built around a roomy bungalow and pool time, not polished resort interiors. Book a lower unit for easier access, or take the top end for space and a quieter patch of the grounds. The upper pool’s hammocks are the strongest argument for lingering after a beach day.
