The better rooms have private bathrooms, while the cheaper huts lean firmly into camping territory. Mosquito nets and fans are part of the deal, so book elsewhere if air-con and sealed hotel-room comfort are non-negotiable. The bungalow roofs have more character than insulation, which is charming until midday decides to become a personal attack.
Ada runs the place with a useful local touch, and the on-site kitchen covers breakfast, Thai food and a particularly good coconut shake. There is no alcohol on the property, leaving the restaurant area quieter than the usual island backpacker holding pen.
A scooter is essential. The property sits back from the road in central Lanta, with beaches, Old Town and the west-coast restaurants all a short ride away. Pick the cabin-style room over the bamboo hut for a more comfortable night among the trees.
