Breakfast arrives on your balcony at the time you pick, with sunrise over the mountains and Siri Lanta Bridge doing its bit in the background. De Saran Lanta is a small apartment-style stay for travellers who want proper sleep, a usable kitchen and enough room to unpack without living out of a backpack.
The rooms are bright, modern and spotless, with large bathrooms, strong air-con, Netflix and Wi-Fi that can handle actual work. Beds are exceptionally good, which sounds modest until you have spent a week negotiating with Thai hotel mattresses.
Ake runs the practical side well: pier transfers, transport arrangements, island advice and scooter rental all sit under one roof. He also gives beginners a proper scooter introduction, so the first corner on Koh Lanta need not become an educational experience.
The setting is quiet and green, close enough for a short ride to Walking Street and around 20 minutes from Lanta Old Town. A motorbike or car is essential here; the reward is a calm balcony view, cats around the property, and none of the road noise from the busier beach strips.
