Bungalows Luana
Description
Eight bungalows sit back from the main road among trees, with balconies, proper air-con and a small shared pool for the part of the afternoon when Koh Lanta feels personally offended by shade. The rooms have more character than the standard beige box, with colourful decor, fly screens and enough space to settle in for weeks.
Long-stay comfort is the point here. Beds are wide, showers run hot with solid pressure, and free drinking water saves a surprising number of plastic bottles. Each bungalow has a quiet, tucked-away feel while still being a short walk from the beach, restaurants, a 7-Eleven, laundry and motorbike rentals.
The beach nearby is usable for swimming and comes with the usual rocky patches, so water shoes are sensible if you dislike meeting the seabed before breakfast. Bungalows Luana fits solo travellers, couples and anyone staying long enough to care about a balcony, insect screens and a room that does not look furnished by a hospital.
The communal pool sits near the entrance, so it is better for a quick cool-down than a secluded all-day float. The real pleasure is the leafy outdoor space around the bungalows, especially after the road noise has faded and dinner is a two-minute stroll away.
