Baan Phuwamin
Description
A proper fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle turn Baan Phuwamin’s air-conditioned rooms into useful long-stay bases, not just somewhere to abandon a backpack. Long Beach is close, with restaurants, bars and a 7-Eleven nearby.
The bungalows are cheap and simple, while the larger air-conditioned rooms carry the practical kit. Fan rooms run hot, and the road plus nearby karaoke can keep the soundtrack going after dark. Pack mosquito repellent; the smaller bungalows leave little room for optimism or yoga.
The setting is a short climb uphill from the main road, which matters if you’re arriving on a loaded scooter or in a heavy car. It is a family-run spot with a relaxed, low-key feel, best used as a base for beach days and unplanned extra nights.
Choose an air-conditioned room for the extra space and appliances, especially for a week or more. The nearby family restaurant keeps dinner close when the hill feels less charming after a sunset beer.
