Description
Whiskey sours, beanbag chairs and a full Klong Nin sunset are the three things Alephant Bar gets very right. It sits directly on the sand beside SriLanta, with the sea close enough to make shoes feel unnecessarily ambitious.
Cocktails are the point, especially the whiskey sour, alongside cold Chang, fresh juices and non-alcoholic drinks. The bar keeps soft music on through the early evening, then brings in fire shows, lanterns and DJ nights after dark. A sunset drink can turn into a proper night out without anyone having to relocate their flip-flops.
Beach chairs and parasols are part of the daytime setup, so it also works for a lazy afternoon between swims. The seating leans relaxed, beach frontage and enough room to settle in for a while.
The sunset-facing seats are the ones to claim. Klong Nin has plenty of places to drink, but Alephant Bar has the right combination of good cocktails and sand-underfoot lounging – a civilised arrangement until the fire show begins.
