Description
Buckwheat galettes with gooey Emmental, proper Toulouse sausage and a beach table are a slightly improbable Koh Lanta combination. Thai Breizh pulls it off without turning dinner into a themed performance.
The French side deserves attention: the Emmental-and-egg galette, beef or chicken baguette sandwich, and sugar-lemon crêpe all land properly. Sweet crêpes go beyond the usual Nutella default, with banana, apple and chestnut fillings available for the committed dessert branch of society.
Thai cooking holds its own here. Pad Thai, green curry, pineapple chicken fried rice, red curry duck soup, spring rolls, chicken satay and shrimp tempura cover the useful end of the menu. The garlic-butter snapper or barracuda fillet and the beach barbecue fish with baked potatoes are the better dinner bets.
Tables sit directly by the sand, with shade during the day and lights after dark. Cash only, so arrive with baht. The sunset-facing tables are the point; the roadside ones merely know about it.
