Description
Koh Rok and Koh Haa are the strongest cards here: proper reef snorkelling, bright fish, and a beach lunch under the trees on Koh Rok. The kit is supplied, water and snacks stay on hand, and the island time breaks up the speedboat miles.
The four-island route covers the familiar Trang circuit, including Emerald Cave, beach stops and snorkelling. Emerald Cave gets busy enough to resemble a wet queue with better lighting, so don’t pick that trip for wilderness theatre.
Hotel pickups and drop-offs are part of the setup, with boats leaving from Saladan. Guides keep track of groups at snorkel stops, and the Koh Rok route uses the calmer side of the islands where possible.
Speedboats are fast because physics has allowed them to be fast, not because they have discovered comfort. The ride to Koh Rok can be rough, loud and soaking in wind or chop; take motion-sickness tablets before pickup and choose a seat away from the bow. Koh Rok’s coral and beach time are worth the long crossing, especially for snorkellers who want more than a quick dip beside Lanta.
