Laem Ngu Viewpoint
Description
Concrete benches, a flight of stairs and a long look across the water: Laem Ngu is a small north-coast stop on Koh Lanta Noi, not a grand monument with a gift shop attached. The view takes in fishing boats, Thai boathouses and a wide, open strip of sea.
Late afternoon is the useful time to land here. The sky does the work after sunset, and the call to prayer carrying over the water gives the place its particular soundtrack. It faces away from the setting sun, so don’t arrive expecting a postcard sun dropping into the sea.
The viewpoint sits beside the pier and feels more like part of a motorbike ride than a destination requiring an expedition. Cross to Lanta Noi, follow the quiet northern roads, then stop long enough to let the island get properly quiet. The stairs are more ambitious than the viewpoint itself (a small architectural mystery).
A little sea-edge cafe next door turns the stop into a decent break, especially for banana bread and a drink above the water. Laem Ngu belongs on a Lanta Noi loop for riders who prefer coastal roads, boats and space over organised attractions.
