Description
Smooth sand, low-key beach bars and a proper sunset line-up make Relax Bay the softer, quieter stretch between Long Beach and Klong Khong. The bay is small enough to feel contained, with shade, sunbeds and a handful of places for a cold drink or Thai massage.
The northern end has the fresh fish restaurant worth planning dinner around. Elsewhere, the appeal is simpler: settle into a bar, let the music stay in the background, and watch the sun make its daily attempt at theatre.
Swimming needs more thought than tanning. Rocks sit under the water, the stones turn slippery, and low tide leaves little depth for a decent dip. High water brings bigger waves and cloudy sea, so aqua shoes are sensible and confident swimmers have the advantage.
Relax Bay suits beach loafers, sunset drinkers and anyone who wants less bustle without disappearing into the island’s back roads. The road in is easy by scooter and there is parking near the sand; the water, meanwhile, has concealed boulders with all the charm of a badly planned obstacle course.
