Description
Chicken pita pockets are the reason PakChee has a small following of repeat offenders at breakfast. Warm pita, properly filling chicken, and enough flavour to make the nearby toast-and-egg circuit feel faintly underprepared.
The coffee is taken seriously here. Monster Blend beans deliver a strong cup, while iced cappuccinos, Thai tea and mayongchid smoothies cover the less-caffeinated end of the morning. Sunray pancakes, mango yoghurt pancakes and the fruit yoghurt bowl handle sweet breakfasts without pretending a bowl of fruit is a personality.
Eggs Benedict, poached egg avocado sourdough and bacon scrambled eggs cover the classic brunch flank. The banh mi is juicy, the sourdough has bite, and the falafel pita gives vegetarians more than a ceremonial side dish. Double curry sausages are there for anyone who believes breakfast should involve curry before noon.
Shoes come off at the door, then pick between the cool indoor room and the quiet back terrace by the river. Bring cash; the card machine has declined this particular brunch invitation.
