Old House Coffee & Shake
Description
Freshly ground beans and a properly cold iced coffee put Old House Coffee & Shake ahead of the instant-coffee stalls around Saladan Pier. The coffee has actual depth, not the sweet brown ambiguity that passes for caffeine in far too many ferry-town cups.
Fruit shakes use fresh fruit and crushed ice, with the passion fruit and banana versions earning their place on the board. The sweetness stays restrained, so you can still identify the fruit without needing a laboratory afterward. Hot coffee, cold coffee and shakes cover the sensible pre-boat requirements.
The fruit yoghurt bowl is the breakfast order: generous, cheap and substantial enough to prevent a ferry crossing powered solely by optimism. It is not a full brunch operation, so don’t arrive expecting eggs, sourdough and three pages of dietary declarations.
A small street-stall frontage opens into a roughly 70-year-old house with indoor seating. The location near the pier is particularly useful with bags in tow, and the old house gives you a shaded place to sit before joining the ferry shuffle.
