Lanta Fun Divers
Description
Small dive groups, well-kept rental gear and boat lunches that include pineapple tarts give Lanta Fun Divers a rather unfair advantage over the usual ‘we have tanks’ operation. The crew runs PADI Open Water courses and guided fun dives with clear briefings, careful profile checks and instructors who keep new divers calm without turning the day into a lecture.
Mike and Franzi are strong picks for certification, especially for anyone arriving nervous about the first few descents. Gabriel, Niko, Naim and Tubien know the local sites properly, including Ko Maa, where reef life can include turtles, blacktip reef sharks and plenty to inspect between coral heads.
Snorkellers ride on the same trips and get proper water time. Trips around Phi Phi include two snorkelling stops, fruit and snacks between sessions, then lunch on the return leg. Anti-seasickness tablets are available on board, which is sensible given that the Andaman Sea has never signed a contract promising calm water.
English and German are spoken, gear is prepared ahead of departure, and the boat day feels organised without the drill-sergeant theatre. New divers, experienced divers and snorkellers travelling together will all get a full day.
