Koh Lanta Statue
Description
A Survivor-style totem stands outside Why Not Bar on Bamboo Beach, looking suitably ceremonial for something perched beside a beach bar. French fans of “Koh Lanta” will recognise the pilgrimage point immediately; everyone else gets a quick photo and a rather good stretch of coast.
The statue is a sign and carved figure, so keep expectations tethered to Earth. It heats up fast in full sun, and sitting on it is not happening.
Bamboo Beach is the stronger reason to stop. Pale sand, clear water and plenty of room make it easy to claim a patch without negotiating beach-towel borders. The section to the right of the pier has fewer rocks for swimming.
Get there early for the quietest version of the place, then stay for a swim or lunch at Why Not Bar. This stop belongs on a south-island beach day, not on a cross-island expedition undertaken solely for a wooden television relic.
