Description

Firm sand, long walking room and Phi Phi sitting on the horizon give Khlong Noen Beach its best argument. It is built for slow morning walks, sandcastles and sunset drinks, not heroic snorkelling expeditions involving flippers and misplaced optimism.

The beach stays pleasantly open even in the busier months. Tree shade appears in patches, while the shore is lined with enough beach bars, restaurants and massage huts to avoid hauling a full survival kit across the sand. Rasta Baby is the sunset stop for a meal with the sea directly in front of it.

Morning water is clearer and calmer. By afternoon, the tide can cloud it up, and low tide exposes rocky sections that are awkward barefoot. The south end has the best underwater visibility, though coral is not the attraction here.

Baby jellyfish and sea lice occur along this coast, so rinse off after swimming if your skin starts protesting. Khlong Noen earns its place as a quiet, spacious stretch for an unhurried beach day, with rocks and distant islands doing most of the decoration.
