Description

Sunset lands straight out over the water at Khlong Hin Beach, with a free swing facing the show and rock formations framing the northern end. Park the scooter by the roadside, walk onto the fine sand, and let the island do its evening thing without a soundtrack from three competing bars.

Swimming is off the menu. Rocks fill the shallows, low tide exposes more of them, and broken glass can lurk in the sand near the waterline. Keep sandals on for a shoreline wander and save the heroic sea entrance for a beach designed for it.

Khlong Hin is for a quiet stop, a picnic, shell hunting, photos and watching the light change over the Andaman. There are no restaurants, massage huts or beach facilities, just a coconut seller, occasional goats and a stretch of coast that has avoided becoming a small shopping centre with sand attached.

The northern rocks are the best frame for sunset photos, while the central sand gives you space to sit without negotiating elbow room.
