Massaman curry, mango shakes and a Thai daybed a few metres from Long Beach make Funky Fish an easy place to lose an afternoon. The wooden beds have Thai mats, the sea provides the soundtrack, and sunset arrives with none of the usual bar-band ambush.
The menu sprawls across Thai staples, curries, pizza, sandwiches and breakfasty Western plates. Go Thai: Massaman, green curry, tom kha and som tam have more going on than the pad Thai. Vegetarian dishes can be made with tofu, with vegan options available on request.
Portions are large, prices stay low for beachfront Long Beach, and the coconut and mango shakes are cold enough to justify another swim. There are tables if you need civilisation, though the daybeds are the point. The bathrooms are basic and need attention; bring cash because cards are not accepted.
