Description
Mango sticky rice is the reason to turn off the main road for Fill Feel, and it has serious competition from the Massaman curry. The coconut rice arrives properly fragrant, the mango is ripe, and the whole thing avoids the sad chilled-afterthought treatment.
Bee runs the front of house and can talk through the menu without turning lunch into a quiz. Her mum cooks Thai food with proper depth: chicken pad Thai, panang curry, kua kling and papaya salad all land with fresh herbs and enough punch to justify a cold watermelon shake.
Breakfast is stronger than most island cafés manage. Eggs, toast, fruit, mango pancakes and smoothies cover the morning job, while the mango-banana smoothie and fruit lassi are worth stopping for in their own right.
The tables sit back from the road among greenery, so it feels calm even at lunch. Food comes out in its own time during a busy spell; settle in, order a drink, and let the kitchen deal with the laws of physics. Fill Feel is best for relaxed meals with time to spare, especially when a curry and dessert matter more than escaping in 18 minutes.
