Description

Two kilometres of pale sand, casuarina shade and almost no built-up beachfront make Chai Hat Lang Sot Koh Lanta’s proper empty-beach option. The harbour entrance and bridge sit in the distance, while fishing nets and shellfish gatherers occasionally provide the only movement.

Walk it at sunset, run it in the late afternoon, or bring a bike and take the hard-packed sand north to south. Shell collecting is unusually good here, and starfish turn up in the shallows. Horse rides along this stretch have the unfair advantage of looking like a film location.

Swimming is not the point. The water stays shallow, currents shift, and patches of soft sand need care. Leave the shaded tree line for walking breaks; mosquitoes and insects own that territory with considerable confidence.

There are no beach bars, loungers, shops or rescue-by-coconut-shake infrastructure. Bring water, footwear and a bag for your own rubbish; the beach has washed-up plastic in places, especially under the trees.
