Description
Beachfront bungalows at Andalay sit a few strides from Klong Nin’s sand, with the pool between the rooms and the sea. The sunset-facing beanbags are the right place for a cocktail, particularly once the long beach has stopped pretending it needs an itinerary.
The resort is small, with spacious studios, rooms and villas. Some villas include a spa bath, while sea-view bungalows put the shoreline directly outside. The pool is compact but properly swim-worthy, and the grounds stay quiet enough for reading, napping, or doing absolutely nothing with conviction.
The restaurant handles Thai dishes well, plus a notably good bruschetta for anyone briefly tired of rice. Breakfast covers eggs, fruit, toast, pancakes and cereal; coffee arrives in its instant form, which is a bold reminder that civilisation remains unfinished.
Klong Nin’s bars and beach restaurants are an easy walk along the sand, with a 7-Eleven nearby and the island’s north, south and Old Town reachable by scooter. The mattresses are firm enough to qualify as a geographical feature, and several rooms are dim after sunset, so bring a book light if work is part of the plan.
