Description
Sunset drinks beside the infinity pool are Coco Lanta’s strongest argument, with the beach a few steps beyond and a bar that knows its way around a cocktail. The sea here is rocky underfoot, so use the pool for proper swimming and save the shoreline for the view.
The bungalow rooms have private little porches, comfortable beds, solid showers and air conditioning that does not sound like a small aircraft attempting departure. Family rooms offer more space, while the apartment-style rooms feel less special than the cottages.
Breakfast covers the useful basics: made-to-order omelettes, fruit, toast, cereal and coffee. The restaurant is far better than a resort fallback, particularly for pad Thai, Thai dishes and the T-bone steak; portions arrive with no apparent concern for human limits.
A reusable bottle and hot-and-cold refill station cut down on plastic, and separate pool and shower towels avoid the usual damp-towel archaeology. There is also an outdoor gym, though the equipment is old and corroded. Rent a scooter here to reach Old Town, Nui Bay and the rest of the island without turning each taxi ride into a financial event.
