Description
Rubber trees outside the bungalow bathroom windows are the first clue that Siam Lanta Resort sits properly back in the greenery. Garden bungalows are the better pick, with modern interiors, air-conditioning, a small fridge and enough quiet for an afternoon nap without the island road providing percussion.
The pool is small but useful after a hot loop down to Old Town or south towards Mu Ko Lanta National Park. Breakfast is included and uncomplicated, so save your serious eating for the nearby restaurant strip.
Scooters are available on site, and that changes the whole stay. Southern Lanta, Kantiang Bay, Old Town and the national park become easy day trips; without wheels, the walk to shops, restaurants and the beach-side area becomes part of the daily plan.
Choose the garden side and avoid the H rooms above reception if light sleep matters. Sound travels through the concrete floors there, including every chair dragged across tile, which is a remarkably determined sound for a chair.
