Far out on the southeastern coast, the property faces sunrise across a rocky shore and small bay. Sand appears in patches, but this is not a west-coast swimming beach; a scooter turns the isolated coast road into part of the outing.
The pool pulls in day trippers for good reason. There is a bar in the water, a cave-like waterfall corner, a pool table, food and drinks, plus Sunday pool parties with music, fire shows and island pickups. The whole place looks built from timber, pirate films and an alarming amount of enthusiasm – then assembled with admirable commitment.
Pad Thai, burgers and poolside beers handle a long afternoon, while kayaks suit a quieter look along the shore. Stay for oddball rooms and pool days; the ship cabins are the point, and polished resort minimalism has been thrown overboard.
