Description
The bridge view from the dock is the one part of Saladan Pier worth pausing for before your ferry, speedboat, or island transfer starts shouting names through the crowd. This is Koh Lanta’s working arrival point, handling boats for Koh Lipe, Phi Phi, Phuket, and the usual tour routes.
The terminal has shade, small shops, simple food, toilets, and a thick cluster of tuk-tuks outside. It is functional infrastructure, not a waterfront promenade – lingering here for pleasure would be an ambitious use of free time.
Boat operators and agencies use different sections of the pier, so keep your ticket handy and follow the operator’s signs. The boarding area gets crowded around departures, with bags, scooters, bicycles, and enough ferry traffic to make the place feel permanently halfway through moving house.
Arrivals pay a small cash environmental fee at the pier. Transport waits outside, but arrange a hotel pickup or settle the fare before climbing into a tuk-tuk; Saladan is about getting onward, and the bridge across the channel is the only sightseeing detour it offers.
