Description
Monkeys in the garden and a jungle-covered slope behind the rooms give Rim Khao more character than the usual roadside budget stay. Keep clothes, snacks and anything vaguely stealable indoors overnight; the local macaques have hobbies.
The rooms are big, clean and comfortably basic, with air-con and fans. Some fittings show their age, but the beds do the job and the setting stays quiet despite the main soi nearby.
Saladan and the beach sit within walking distance, while a 7-Eleven is practically next door for water, breakfast supplies and the late-night toastie emergency. Thai food and small restaurants are close, and motorbike rental is available on site for getting further down the island.
Rim Khao suits longer stays, budget travellers and anyone who prefers trees and birdsong to a resort pool. There is no pool, the beach is a walk away, and this is a simple family-run base with a proper jungle edge.
