Lanta Coral Beach Resort
Description
Sunset beers at the little beach bar are the point of Lanta Coral Beach Resort. Bungalows sit among thick greenery beside a quiet stretch of coast, with hammocks, massage huts and enough room to spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing useful.
The beach is shallow and calm, good for small children and lazy floating. The rocks directly in front of the resort make swimming awkward; walk a short distance left for a clearer entry. Hermit crabs patrol the sand, cats patrol the resort, and the geckos have strong opinions after dark.
Rooms range from basic fan huts with cold showers to newer air-conditioned bungalows closer to the water. Check the bungalow before settling in, especially the air-conditioning, bathroom and beach position. The older units are plainly older, while the newer ones are the better bet for a longer stay.
A restaurant, beach bar, doorstep massages, laundry and scooter rental keep life pleasantly contained. The International Meditation Center is nearby, while the busier parts of Lanta need a scooter. This place suits long-stay quiet types, families with young children and anyone whose nightlife plan involves watching the sun disappear behind the Andaman Sea.
