Breakfast happens above the sea at Diamond Cliff, with a cliff-edge view over Nui Beach and a free shuttle from the resort. Stay for dinner too; sunset has a habit of making even a cold beer feel excessively well planned.
The rooms sit back from the southern road in a leafy garden, so expect quiet nights, big bedrooms, firm mattresses, strong air conditioning and daily fresh towels. Colourful glass details and unusual light fittings keep the chalet look from drifting into generic island-room territory.
Scooters, bicycles, cars, fuel, laundry, transfers and island trips can all be arranged on site. That matters down here, where the better beaches and viewpoints are scattered along hilly roads and walking everywhere becomes an ambitious hobby.
No pool, no beachfront rooms, and no need for either once the shuttle drops you at Diamond Cliff’s beach below. The garden has goats, chickens, lizards and occasional monkeys, while Nui Beach is close enough for a quick swim between breakfast and an afternoon nap.
