Poonsap Resort
Description
The long pool is the best reason to stay at Poonsap Resort, especially after a day on the scooter. It is large enough for proper laps, not just decorative floating, with loungers and a quiet, leafy setting around it.
The accommodation is simple and good value: roomy bungalows and apartments, useful fridges and hotplates in some units, plus a shared spot with coffee, hot water and a toaster. Wi-Fi is strong, and the place stays quiet after dark, with a proper spread of stars once the island switches off its unnecessary lighting.
Pra Ae’s restaurants and shops sit a short walk away, while the beach is farther on. The final stretch is a dark road at night, so a scooter is the sensible plan and a torch is not a piece of camping cosplay.
Poonsap suits independent island stays, pool days and travellers happy with a low-key base. The buildings are dated in places, and the pool area has no fence beside the drainage channel, so families with small children should choose somewhere with safer boundaries.
