Baan Sri Lanta Sand
Description
Long Beach sits a short walk across the road, while a 7-Eleven is practically next door for water, snacks and the inevitable midnight toastie. Baan Sri Lanta Sand is for travellers who want a clean, roomy base and would rather spend their budget on island days than decorative cushions.
The rooms have proper beds, air-conditioning, hot showers with strong pressure, fridges, kettles, TVs and shaded balconies. Mountain-facing balconies are the pick, especially after a dusty scooter lap around the island. Daily water, coffee, towels and toilet paper keep the practical bits ticking over without turning the room into a resort brochure.
Mr A runs the place with the sort of local knowledge that saves faffing about at the pier or hunting for a scooter. Motorbike hire is on site, laundry is available, and the family also puts out local snacks and takeaway lunches early in the day. A large fridge is a surprisingly useful luxury on Lanta, mainly because it can hold more than three warm cans and a tragic banana.
Road-facing rooms catch traffic noise, so ask for a quieter room away from the main road. Storage is limited, but the space, balcony and beach access matter far more than an extra drawer.
