The rooms are deliberately basic: wooden walls, fan cooling, mosquito nets, dark interiors and hot-water bathrooms. Some bungalows have a fridge, and the sea-view ones earn their appeal at hammock level. Air conditioning is absent, so this is for travellers who can sleep with a fan and accept that bamboo has opinions about soundproofing.
The beach directly outside is rocky, better for sitting with a drink than charging straight into the water. Proper Long Beach swimming is a short walk along the sand, and the main road’s restaurants and 7-Eleven are close enough to reach without organising an expedition.
Lanta Marina suits budget stays built around beach time, slow breakfasts and unhurried evenings at the restaurant. Pick a bungalow with a hammock if one is available; it is the difference between a room and a small, timber-framed excuse to avoid plans.
