Two pools, a beachfront bar and bungalow porches facing Klong Khong’s long west-coast horizon give Lanta New Beach Bungalows plenty to do without leaving the grounds. The sea-facing pool is the better sunset seat; the rear pool stays quieter when the bar area has more life.
Rooms are straightforward concrete bungalows with proper spring mattresses, air-conditioning, fans, fridges and enough floor space to unpack without performing suitcase origami. Housekeeping is on request, so leave the key out or ask at reception.
The beach is Klong Khong, which means rocky shallows at low tide. High tide is the swimming window, while low tide is for pool time, sunset drinks and pretending the exposed reef was part of the plan.
Motorbikes are available by reception, and they matter here. The property sits on the beach side of the road, with more eating options a short ride away; low season can leave the on-site restaurant closed. The open-air massage beds beside the pool are ideal after a scooter day, especially when the sea has decided to be decorative.
