Two Scoops Gelato
Description
Blueberry yoghurt gelato has the right sharp tang, lemon sorbet tastes of fruit, and the flavour cabinet changes often enough to reward repeat stops. Cinnamon roll, mascarpone fig, licorice, rum and raisin, apple pie, and peanut brittle all turn up alongside the classics.
The vegan pistachio and dark chocolate hold their own, which matters on an island where dairy-free dessert can mean a freezer-burned apology. Homemade yoghurt is worth taking away too – thick, tart, almost cheeselike.
Salted caramel gelato sandwiches, pistachio-dark chocolate popsicles, carrot cake on a stick, gluten-free brownies, caramel slices, cheesecake, shakes and affogato give the place serious dessert range. The carrot cake is properly moist with cream-cheese frosting, especially beside coconut gelato.
There is air conditioning indoors and a shaded cabana in the small garden out front, plus a free water refill point. It sits up at the northern end of the island, so this is a planned detour from the southern beaches; the rum and raisin makes a persuasive case for fuel consumption.
