Mojitos, sand under the table and Long Beach sunsets are Tiw Lay’s strongest hand. Grab a bamboo seat facing the water, let the waves handle the soundtrack, and stay through the orange bit of the evening when everyone suddenly remembers they own a camera.
The shrimp or chicken Pad Thai is the safest bet, with pineapple chicken fried rice, green curry, som tam and chicken tempura filling out a cheap Thai-food session. King mackerel fillet has a loyal following, while the tabletop hot pot arrives with flames and enough theatre for a beach dinner. Mango fritters are worth saving room for.
This is a relaxed beach shack, not a polished dining room. The menu covers Thai dishes, shakes, cocktails, desserts and halal food, with massage available nearby for anyone committed to turning lunch into a full horizontal programme.
Lunch is best for a shake and sea view; sunset belongs to cocktails and the beach seats. The kitchen can take its time during a busy spell, so settle in. No Wi-Fi – the sea has been asked to provide all available bandwidth.
