Three Sisters Restaurant
Description
Boiled banana in coconut sauce is the dessert to save room for here: soft banana, warm coconut, and far more memorable than it has any right to be. Three Sisters also handles the serious Thai staples well, especially chicken panang curry, chicken khao soi, glass-noodle larb and steamed sea bass.
Seafood arrives in useful forms. Try the squid tempura for chunky squid in a crisp light coating, or the stir-fried snapper with herbs. The suki seafood soup is a good pick for something lighter, while the coconut milkshake and lemon Thai tea cool down the chilli situation.
Vegetarians get more than the usual sad corner of a menu. Vegetable stir-fries, morning glory, papaya salad and a tofu-and-vegetable massaman give the table proper options. The vegan massaman is particularly filling, loaded with tofu and vegetables.
The room is small, cosy and busy at dinner, with tables disappearing early. Arrive before the evening rush or settle in for a wait; the boiled banana has already built a better case for itself than most desserts on the island.
