The Ocean Restaurant
Description
Tom Yum Goong arrives off-menu, properly sharp with prawns, and is the smartest reason to stop at The Ocean in Saladan. Ask for it directly, then look at the seafood on ice before choosing a fish, lobster or mantis shrimp cooked your preferred way.
The menu wanders across Thai, seafood, Indian curries, pasta and cocktails with the confidence of a restaurant that refuses to pick one nationality for dinner. That breadth pays off most with butter chicken, tikka masala, lentil dhal, garlic naan and crab curry. Request heat in the tikka masala if you like a proper chilli kick.
Tables face the channel towards Koh Lanta Noi, close to the pier and far more scenic than a quick ferry-side lunch has any right to be. Settle in with a Mai Tai or one of the thick milkshakes and watch boats cut across the water.
Seafood is the strongest bet, especially whole fried fish and garlic-fried mantis shrimp. The chocolate fondant is rich enough to finish the meal with a small, pleasant argument about sharing.
