Fishing boats pass beneath the rooms at The Mangrove House, a stilted stay at the far end of Lanta Old Town with bay views through the floor-to-ceiling quiet. The tide moves under the building, which is far more interesting than another pool with a motivational sign beside it.
The newer rooms are large, air-conditioned and properly set up for lingering, including family-sized rooms sleeping four. Beds run firm, so anyone built from spare feathers should pack accordingly. Early mornings bring boat engines and water sounds, not Old Town traffic.
There is a restaurant and bar downstairs for a slow drink over the bay, plus a broad food menu leaning international and mild on chilli. Old Town’s seafood spots, cafés and wooden shophouses sit within a ten-minute walk, while the location keeps the busy bits at a useful distance.
Pick this for a quiet overnight in Old Town, especially after too many roadside hotel rooms and scooter-heavy beach strips. The over-water rooms are the point; book one facing the bay and let the tide provide the background noise.
