The Lobster
Description
Garlic-butter lobster and spicy Thai seafood salad are the reason to pull off the resort strip for The Lobster. The catch is handled simply enough to taste like lobster, not a cheese experiment with a marine mascot.
The Southern Thai side of the menu has proper heat. Try the shrimp curry omelette with rice, orange fish soup, red curry, or the Massaman curry, which has the deep, slow-cooked spice balance many island versions forget halfway through.
Breakfast is far more serious than a token omelette section. Banana pancakes with caramel, smoothie bowls, croissants, baguettes, coffee and breakfast sets cover the early shift, while nachos, Cobb salad and fish and chips keep mixed groups from negotiating a treaty at lunch.
Pineapple seafood fried rice is a strong-value order, and mango sticky rice finishes the job neatly. The restaurant sits tucked down a side street near the beach resorts, with romantic music, clean tables and a menu large enough to absorb both seafood obsessives and children plotting banana pancakes.
