The Garden Restaurant
Description
Sourdough, ciabatta, baguettes and burger buns come from the bakery here, so breakfast has proper structural engineering. Avocado toast with poached egg, French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs and yoghurt bowls all benefit from bread that wasn’t assembled in a panic.
Khao soi and crisp spring rolls are the Thai order, while avocado bruschetta is far better than it has any right to be on Koh Lanta. The menu also wanders through Buddha bowls, falafel wraps, burgers, Pad Thai, Mexican plates, Indian dishes and sushi. It is a large menu, but not one of those alarming encyclopaedias where page 47 contains lasagne and a cry for help.
At night, the pond, dense planting and small lights give the dining area a calm, tucked-in feel. The beef tacos are tasty but a small portion, so save them for a light meal.
Aun’s cooking courses run from the same address, including a morning market session that starts with ingredient shopping. The garden setting suits a long breakfast or an unhurried dinner, especially with khao soi followed by something from the bakery.
