Description
A flat rock above the sea gives Sunset Rock & Viewpoint a proper west-coast sunset angle, with Klong Khong’s rocky shoreline spread below. Bring a drink, sit down, and let the sun do the expensive part.
The approach is half the trick. Turn off the main road towards Beautiful Beach, then pick up the small trail to the ledge; the north end of Klong Khong Beach also leads in on foot. It is easy enough once found, though the final section involves stepping over rocks.
This spot earns its reputation for space. There is no broad sand beach, only small stones, sea noise and a ledge with room for a low-key picnic. Couples wanting a private sunset and photographers after an elevated frame will get more from it than anyone hunting beach bars and beanbags.
Thai food and cocktails are available nearby, but the rock is the point. Stay on the higher ledge for the wide view; the stones at water level are better for listening to the waves than settling in.
