Description

Shrimp cakes arrive crisp and hot, with enough fresh prawn to justify stopping on the road back from Mu Ko Lanta National Park. The fried rice is simple Thai comfort food, properly done, and the terrace view gives lunch more than a plastic-chair pit stop.

Rooms sit up on the south side with broad sea-and-hills views and a quiet, tucked-away feel. This part of Koh Lanta is for motorbike riders, slow mornings and people happy to put distance between themselves and the busier beach strips.

A motorbike rental on site solves the geography neatly. The beaches and restaurants around the southern coast need wheels, and the property is a useful base for riding towards the national park.

The setting is peaceful, comfortable and deliberately removed from the action. Stay here for the views, the calm and the southern-island road trips; the shrimp cakes are a far better reason to stop than pretending you only needed petrol.
