Sirina Restaurant
Description
Fish in lime sauce is the reason to make the detour to Sirina. Give Da a day’s notice and she will source the fish fresh, then send it out sharp with lime, chilli and enough garlic to settle a philosophical argument.
The cooking has the compact, full-flavoured confidence of a home kitchen. Green curry, panang curry, tom kha and pad Thai all land properly, while the chicken cashew nut and beef basil handle the less dramatic end of the menu without becoming wallpaper.
Spring rolls deserve their own small fan club: crisp, hot and gone far too quickly. Mango sticky rice arrives with a whole mango, which is the sort of generosity that makes a dessert spoon briefly feel inadequate.
Da runs the kitchen herself, and vegetarian eating is well covered with tofu curries and other meat-free Thai staples. The roadside setting is calm, there are a few steps at the entrance, and scooter parking is easy; the petrol bottles outside are handy if your tank has developed adventurous ideas.
