Shanti Beach House
Description
Grilled snapper, barracuda Penang curry and a bottle of cold rosé are the sensible reasons Shanti Beach House stays booked. The kitchen handles seafood properly, with whole fish, Thai herbs, clams and calamari with aioli sharing space with green mango salad and rich curries.
Tables sit almost on the sand on Koh Lanta’s west coast, facing the sunset and the wash of the tide. Book ahead for dinner, especially for the front row by the water; the roadside side of the room gets the island’s traffic soundtrack.
The menu has a Thai-French accent that works best around fish, wine and dessert. Crème brûlée is an unexpectedly strong finish after a steamed fish feast, and the French wine list is far more serious than a beach shack has any right to be.
Ben and the Thai-French team have built a polished sunset dinner spot, not a plastic-chair Thai canteen. Seafood-focused Foodies and couples celebrating something more substantial than surviving the scooter ride will get the point quickly.

- Sunset-facing tables directly beside the beach
- Thai curries, green mango salad and French-influenced desserts
- Proper wine selection, including chilled rosé
